Kim

sounds extremely interesting. Is it a day a week in college and then the rest on project/start up? I wish you all the very best with it and maybe will be in a position to explore it more soon.

Simon

Well done. This is exactly what is needed, and of course only an institution could bring it off! ;-)

Hi!

It's been a while since I've visited with a book recommendation, but this time do, really please do hunt down and read Kevin Dutton's 'Flipnosis: the Art Of Split-Second Persuasion'. It's a book with a basis in cutting edge science by a fellow of the Faraday Institute of Science and Religion, Cambridge. It has more to say about evangelism, mission, emerging church, and - from your post, the phrase that jumped out - 'leaders who are able to start something from nothing in new situations and contexts', than anything else I've yet read! (Also it comes with an endorsement by Howard Marks, which you can't say for most church training manuals.)

You'll know already that I count myself as one of those stubborn cusses who are doing what they do outside official sanction. Sometimes I'm even bold enough to think of myself as a vicar without portfolio. But I hope I am very much with you, and not against you. It was wonderful to attend the ordination of a pioneer-leader friend at York last fortnight. And it seems I'm now co-director of a start-up company producing games, with the aim of using the company's profile and funds to contribute to the regeneration of Whitley Bay.

All the work you're writing about above sounds brilliant. May it prove an exciting and compassionate adventure!

where i come across creative ideas, liturgies, movies, music tracks, service outlines or anything that strikes me, i add them as worship tricks. i started these in april 2002 when i first began blogging and they have built up over the years so that i am now on the third series. this has proved a pretty popular feature of the blog.
