one of this year's musical gems is the dead texan by the dead texan. it comes with a CD and DVD. the CD is the most horizontal ambient music imaginable. in much the same way as i suggested last year that the detroit escalator company's albums made a wonderful alt worship soundtrack, this album could too (only more mellow). it comes with a DVD of ambient visuals. one track is just water images - ideal for your next baptism/background to confession or just as wallpaper for the soul... and some of the illustration work is beautiful.
i first heard about this on the big chill discussion forum where among others mixmaster morris was raving about it. speaking of the big chill, spent a great evening last night having a curry on brick lane followed by catching the evanchillist tom middleton mixing up an eclectic set at the big chill bar - a couple of the most memorable tunes were a version of gloria gaynor's i will survive in spanish and a funky dance mix ofthe police's roxanne.
'evanchillist' - love it! This reminds me that i must get our tickets for next summer's Big Chill. Happy Christmas mate - Matt.
