last year i blogged about holy ground, an idea we had for doing an installation (and resource) at greenbelt 04. this is how i described it:
i am working with artist (and friend) paul hobbs on a project called holy ground. the idea for this is very simple. we want to collect a range of shoes from christians round the world for an installation at greenbelt this summer (and if it looks good maybe a resource to go with it). and we want a brief story that goes with the shoes. easy eh?!
well it turned out that it took a lot longer than anticipated to collect shoes so we have delayed it by a year and plan to do it at greenbelt 05. we are getting there but are still after more shoes. so if either you or someone you know has a pair of shoes with an assoicated story please e-mail me. this is the list of countries we have shoes from so far:
Albania | Britain | Burma | Canada | Ethiopia | Germany | Holland | India | Kenya | Kosovo | Nigeria | Pakistan | Peru | Rwanda | Serbia | Sudan | Tanzania | Central Asia
and this is the list of types:
Athlete | Bishop | Doctor | Former Drug Addict| Former Thief/Evangelist | Missionary/Evangelist | Ornithologist | Prayer Ministry Leader | Priest | Prisoner/Evangelist | Refugee | Teacher| Village housewife | Youth Worker | Small child| Forester/Canoe Instructor
once again here is a summary of the project, a form for people donating shoes to fill in to tell their story and give us permission to use the shoes and a letter to send to anyone which explains the project. thanks..
