today we went to the launch party of timeout trashed. this is a version of timeout that has been put together by a group of teenagers from ealing (our part of london). education here has what they call a gifted and talented scheme - pupils identified with particular gifts and talents are given additional opportunities to be stretched in ways that the normal curriculum won't. somehow gifted and talented in ealing swung a deal with timeout to produce a special one off zine for teenagers by teenagers. each week a leading designer or illustrator or photographer came and shared their experience and insight with the team.
joel got invited to be part of a team that put together this zine. it is amazing. joel has fantastic talent in design (anything in that whole creative area in fact) and was one of the editorial team. simon (another grace member) was the photographer and has managed to get quite a few of his photos in there. they have put an amazing amount of hard work into it. but it's been a brilliant experience and is exciting to see the finished zine. it will be going round schools in ealing. we've got plenty of copies - will bring some to grace saturday. let me know if you want one...
The magazine sounds fascinating - would you be be able to save me a copy please?
