Some good news to announce - Ryan Bolger and Karen Ward are in the UK in July. The research in Emerging Churches is excellent so following the success of the Blah tour with Hirsch and Frost we thought we'd do another small tour. Hope you can make one of the venues. Details are below. You can book online. Or of you prefer download a booking form and book that way. Anyway here's the blurb...
The last few years have seen the emergence of creative new forms of church in mission with a buzz around emerging church, mission shaped church and fresh expressions. This movement is young, fragile and exciting.
Emerging Churches will give a window into this movement with a mix of teaching | storytelling | inspiration | discussion
We are delighted that Ryan Bolger, author of Emerging Churches: Creating Christian community in postmodern cultures (described by Andrew Jones as the best book yet on the emerging church) will be joining us to present the result of 5 years research into what is happening in emerging churches in the UK and USA. The day will include stories from leaders of emerging churches in the UK and the USA. We are excited that Karen Ward (leader of COTA, a postmodern monastic community in Seattle) is coming over especially to take part and will be joined by UK practitioners.
This will follow on from the success of the 2004 blah... tour with Alan Hirsch and Michael Frost.
Ryan Bolger serves as Assistant Professor of Church in Contemporary Culture at Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California. He teaches classes on new faith communities and witness within postmodern/global cultures. Ryan and his wife Julie live in an English cottage in Pasadena with their two children, Mackenzie and Luke. Ryan blogs here
Karen Ward is priest/pastor and 'Abbess in training'at Church of the Apostles, Seattle, an emerging, (new) monastic Christian community affiliated with the Episcopal Church (USA) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Karen blogshere
