it's funny when different parts of your world collide. jonny sertin and mike morris developed the course make believe, a year long discipleship course that i blogged about before (and as a result someone even joined the course - o the power of blogs!?). anyway jonny and mike are part of the wider cms team i am in.
well it turns out that my younger brother steve is a trustee of make believe and he and susie (my sister in law) are going to host a make believe course at their small pad in devon (!). you've got to admit that it is a pretty sweet location to hang out for a few weekends to rethink your life :-)
i have only heard good things about the course. anyway here's the blurb from susie...
The MAKE believe course was created for who have a dream to extend their faith beyond the realm of institutional church into all corners of life. Courses have been running in the USA and the UK for 4 years now and have had a profound impact on its students.
The MAKE believe course focuses on vocational development. It comprises three carefully crafted modules that work interactively with the student body. These modules are presented over a total of eight weekends. The course invites each student to participate in a journey of discovery and personal growth with the objective of enabling them to take a more informed and responsible approach to mapping their vocational path in light of God’s call upon their life.
Make Believe is run by Groundworks, a partnership that focuses on transforming society by contemplating Christ and stewarding dreams. Their aim is to encourage, mobilise and resource Christians who are aiming at excellence in their life’s mission.
Pickwell Manor is a beautiful historic Manor house situated on the North Devon coast. It is run as a venue for holidays, weddings and not for profit events and courses by two resident families the Bakers and the Elliotts. Pickwell has seven stunning apartments all situated within the Manor house, which itself is set within 6 acres of beautiful grounds.
Pickwell will be hosting MAKE believe as a residential course starting in October 2009 with one weekend a month running up until May 2010. The Manor has some wonderful lounges, dining rooms and other communal spaces – a perfect location for the conversation, dialogue, food and wine that are important ingredients of each weekend. There will be lots of input, but also space for reflection and time alone or together with partners or family. There will be an option for childcare to be included and the course is designed to provide a reflective and unhurried space. We would love to see you here.
