resource is a training course over four weekends in a year for pioneer/mission leaders interested in mission in the emerging culture. each weekend is in a different context where we learn from a community involved in mission with a different edge or focus. then there is a mix of sharing stories, conversation and teaching as well as sharing the journey with other leaders involved in mission. here's what tim nash who did the course this year had to say about it's impact on him:
I stumbled across the ReSource course via Jonny Baker’s blog, and was encouraged by my church’s leadership team to give it a go. I can’t tell you how many training weekends and conferences I’ve been sent on that have either left me cold or very frustrated, so I wasn’t all that excited about this one. It turns out though that ReSource was just the right course at just the right time!ReSource is an excellent mix of insightful and engaging teaching, passionate storytelling, relaxed conversation, inspiring visits to a variety of projects and communities, and the space to develop friendships and connect with God. In short, unlike all the other courses I’d been on, ReSource didn’t just talk about the emerging church, it demonstrated it.
ReSource answered many of the questions that I had been struggling with, and left me with many questions I hadn’t previously been asking! But the main thing I took away was the feeling that I wasn’t alone, that there are many other people out there on a similar journey. That gave me a great deal of confidence, and I finished the course feeling like I had permission to experiment, take risks, and follow the Spirit wherever he might lead. So I’m quite sure that ReSource will have a profound and ongoing impact on the development of the work I’m doing with un-churched young adults in my local community. Tim Nash

if you are training to be an OPM (ordained pioneer) and find you are not getting much in the way of pioneering this could be a good addition to your training (we'll be integrating it with the cms pioneer leadership training). this year heather cracknell did resource as part of her OPM training and got 30 credits for her course for doing so. so it's possible. here's what she had to say about it...
As a pioneer minister in training, Resource was a brilliant way to apply learning about theology, faith and culture in varied contexts, from urban metro life to deprived sink estates. It stretched my thinking and challenged my assumptions. It took my exploration of what faith and community mean in the 21st century to a deeper level.
What impact has Resource had on what I'm doing to live out faith in my context? I'm more reflective, more intentional and more able to draw others into that reflection on the dynamic interaction of culture and faith.
